  • 2 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1 cup Cold Butter
  • 1/2 cup Grated Apple
  • 1 cup Chilled Buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons Honey (for glaze)
  • pinch Salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and spices.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in grated apple and gradually add chilled buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently before rolling to about ¾-inch thick. Cut into rounds.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, prepare the honey butter glaze by mixing chilled butter with honey and salt until smooth.
  8. Brush warm biscuits with the glaze before serving.
