  • 1 can evaporated milk (12 oz)
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar while stirring until it reaches a golden amber color. Quickly pour into a round baking dish and swirl to coat the bottom evenly.
  2. Mix the Custard: Blend evaporated milk, condensed milk, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour over the prepared caramel.
  3. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with hot water halfway up the sides of the flan dish. Bake for 50-60 minutes until just set.
  4. Cool and Serve: Let cool in the water bath, refrigerate for at least four hours, then invert onto a plate to serve.
