  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced into wedges
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp apple vinegar (or dry apple juice)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by slicing the beef against the grain and chopping the onions, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Marinate the beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, vinegar (or apple juice), sesame oil, and sugar for about 15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add marinated beef in a single layer; cook without stirring for 1-2 minutes until browned, then stir-fry until cooked through.
  5. Push beef aside; add garlic and ginger to enhance flavors for about 30 seconds before adding onion wedges. Stir-fry until onions are translucent.
  6. Pour in broth or water; stir everything together and cook until heated through.
