Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (or dairy-free butter)
  • 1 cup Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs (or flax eggs)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt (optional)
  • 1 cup Almond Flour
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 large Additional Egg (or flax egg)
  • 1/2 cup Sliced Almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter and light brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and almond flour. Gradually incorporate this dry mixture into the wet mixture until combined.
  4. Mix in granulated sugar and an additional egg until blended, then fold in sliced almonds gently.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 35 minutes or until golden brown on top; a toothpick should come out clean.
  6. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
