- 120ml vegetable oil
- 2 cups (500g) granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 45g unsweetened cocoa powder

- 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk, room temperature
- 4 oz (113g) German sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 cup (240ml) evaporated milk
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 3 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
- 113g unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325F (163C) and grease your bundt or tube pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, vegetable oil, and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the batter with buttermilk until combined.
- Stir in melted German chocolate until fully integrated.
- Pour batter into prepared pan(s) and bake for 75-85 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
- Allow cooling before adding the coconut-pecan frosting made by heating evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, and butter until thickened.
