  • 8 oz elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese (cut into ghost shapes)
  • Black sesame seeds or peppercorns (for eyes)
  • Olive oil or butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until just tender, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to form a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking while stirring for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Combine the cooked pasta with the cheese sauce until well-coated.
  6. Grease a baking dish with olive oil or butter and spread the pasta mixture evenly.
  7. Arrange ghost-shaped mozzarella on top and add black sesame seeds or peppercorns for eyes.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
