Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sirloin or NY strip steak
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 ounces white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch sticks
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season steak pieces with salt and pepper. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from pan.
  2. In the same pan, add more vegetable oil and sesame oil, then sauté sliced mushrooms and onions for 4–5 minutes until softened. Add zucchini and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
  3. Push vegetables to one side of the pan, melt butter in the empty space, and sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
  4. Mix soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and honey in a bowl, then pour over the cooked vegetables.
  5. Return the steak to the pan, stir to combine, and let simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
