Ingredients

Scale
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ⅔ cup whole milk
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • ⅓ cup melted butter (cooled)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp melted butter (for glaze)
  • 1¼ cup sifted powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
  • 2 tsp honey (for glaze)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract; then add to dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll into a rectangle. Sprinkle with cinnamon and roll tightly; cut into 14 pieces and shape into buns.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat (around 350°F). Fry each bun for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, mix melted butter with powdered sugar, milk, honey, and vanilla extract until smooth; dip or drizzle over warm buns.
