Ingredients

  • 5 large organic lemons (unwaxed)
  • 500 ml of pure alcohol (substitute with high-proof vodka if needed)
  • 600 g of sugar
  • 750 ml of water

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash the lemons to remove any impurities. Use a peeler to zest the lemons, avoiding the white pith.
  2. Place the lemon peels in a glass jar and cover them with alcohol. Seal tightly and store in a dark place for 30 days.
  3. After 30 days, strain out the lemon peels. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat until dissolved to make syrup.
  4. Allow the syrup to cool, then mix it with the lemon-infused alcohol in the jar. Let rest for another 40 days.
  5. Finally, strain again and bottle your homemade limoncello.
