Ingredients
- 5 large organic lemons (unwaxed)
- 500 ml of pure alcohol (substitute with high-proof vodka if needed)
- 600 g of sugar
- 750 ml of water
Instructions
- Thoroughly wash the lemons to remove any impurities. Use a peeler to zest the lemons, avoiding the white pith.
- Place the lemon peels in a glass jar and cover them with alcohol. Seal tightly and store in a dark place for 30 days.
- After 30 days, strain out the lemon peels. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat until dissolved to make syrup.
- Allow the syrup to cool, then mix it with the lemon-infused alcohol in the jar. Let rest for another 40 days.
- Finally, strain again and bottle your homemade limoncello.
