Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons warm whole milk
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (slightly beaten)
- 3 cups bread flour
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons fine sea salt
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, yeast, sugar, and beaten egg.
- Gradually add bread flour and all-purpose flour until incorporated. Then mix in salt and butter.
- Knead the dough on medium-low speed for about 10 minutes until soft but tacky.
- Transfer to an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise until doubled in size (1 to 2 hours).
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Shape the dough into eight equal balls and place them on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Cover and let rise again until puffy (about 1 to 1½ hours). Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown.
