- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup water
- ½ teaspoon red gel food coloring
- 16 wooden sticks (lollipop or popsicle sticks)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. If using larger apples, cut them in half and remove the seeds.
- Firmly insert a wooden stick into each apple's stem end.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; lightly grease it.
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Increase heat to high and let it boil without stirring until it reaches 290°F on a candy thermometer (about 8-10 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in red food coloring until evenly mixed.
- Quickly dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, swirl to coat evenly, then place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Allow them to cool completely at room temperature until the coating hardens.
