  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cans stewed tomatoes with juice (14.5 ounces each)
  • 3 stalks celery (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 3 carrots (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. Dredge the cube steak in this mixture and set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the coated steaks on both sides and then transfer them to the slow cooker.
  3. Layer chopped celery, carrots, and onion over the steaks.
  4. In a bowl, mix minced garlic, brown sugar, and stewed tomatoes until well combined. Pour this sauce over the ingredients in your slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 4–6 hours until meat is tender.
